The result is "all-day battery life" which is 9 hours on the web or 10 hours of video usage.
It has 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth for wireless connections. Cutting down on wires to make it more portable. There is a port for power, a new proprietary port called USB-C, which they say will become a new industry standard.
It's one port that can handle a long list of interfaces in one slot, but until it really is an industry standard, there's basically no place for your existing cords.
The USB-C port is a combo of power, USB, VGA, HDMI and more. There is no other port, not even a headphone jack. [Update: There is a headphone jack! On the other side.]
Now a video of the new MacBook.
"Hashtag MacBook lust," says Schiller, who is being hashtag funny.
Starts at $1,299 for the base model and $1,599 for the MacBook with 2x the SSD. It will start shipping on April 10.
Cook is back out to talk about the Apple Watch.
Tim Cook is talking about the various types of watch faces you can choose from, including a classic or a digital look -- or maybe a dancing Mickey Mouse.
You can receive calls on your watch.
"I have been wanting to do this since I was five years old, the day is finally here!" says Cook.
"If you press the side button you can bring up your friends and you can connect Apple Watch to Apple Watch with new technology called Digital Touch."
Digital Touch lets you send your heartbeat, tap to make a pal's wrist vibrate, or draw a little doodle that will be animated on their wrist just as if you were drawing on their skin (well, almost).
Taking about the health features. "It will also send you reminders as a friend would" says Cook. My friends do not remind me to work out more. That would probably end the friendship.
They gave a watch to one of the world's top fashion models. A maternal health advocate, advisor to Harvard School of Public Health, founded Every Mother Counts: Christy Turlington.
She finished a half marathon using an Apple Watch. The marathon was in Africa, they sent a video crew, naturally.
Turlington ran the race to bring attention to maternal health -- it's the same distance many mothers have to travel to get maternal care.
Christy Turlington came on stage to have a totally casual, improvised chat with Tim Cook about the watch. She likes it!
Apple's Kevin Lynch is going to demo some of the apps. See the top trend on Twitter, upcoming flight info, sports scores.
Press the crown to activate Siri, ask what the temp is in New York.
You don't need to press the button to trigger Siri, does that mean the watch microphone is always listening?
There is an Uber app, it shows the wait time, a map, then the driver's name. It will ping a notification when it arrives, along with the plate number and a pic of the driver so you don't do that embarrassing thing where you hop into some random car.
You can go through security at the airport using the Passbook app on the watch.
With all of these notifications, will phantom wrist vibrations become an issue?
Use your watch as a room key at the hotel by holding it up to the door, and skip the front desk altogether. They are showing the strange Mickey Mouse watch face a lot today. Use the Shazam watch app to find out what that song is -- and even see the lyrics. They are highlighted in sync with the song so the whole world becomes your karaoke bar.
Smart Home? See a live feed of a security camera in your garage, open it with a tap on the watch.
You use the iPhone to see and download apps. In iOS 8.2 there will be an Apple Watch app, You can set up the various notifications in here too. The iOS update is available today.
"We've designed it with all-day battery life across a range of activities." 18 hours, says Cook. Apple employees clap extra loud for this, possibly because having to charge the watch every day is going to get some criticism.
Cook says 18 hours "works for most people."
Yet another slow mo, spinning hardware video. This video is all about the aluminium alloy (please say it in your best Jony Ive British Accent).
You thought aluminum was cool, how about a video just about stainless steel?
Pricing is a bit complicatd. A sport design will start at $349 for the smaller (38mm) size, and $399 for the larger (42mm) size. The small mid-range version will cost $549 to $1,049. The larger will run you $50 more.
You can pre-order starting April 10.
The Apple Watch Edition is the better version of Apple Watch, and it has a fat price tag to match. It starts at $10,000. Yep.
You have from now until April 10 to save $10,000.
Pre-orders will be on your wrist by April 24.
Cook is recapping: Apple TV price drop, HBO Now, Research Kit, a new MacBook, and watches watches watches.
There is no more "one more thing" today, but there is a demo area set up next door and the journalists and VIPs are going to test out the new tech. I'm going to try and and call my editor from my wrist and break into someone's hotel room. Thanks for tuning in!
