Just downloaded the new CNN iPad app? Here are five features you might not have known about.
Watch live CNN or HLN TV
If you pay for TV service, you can watch a live feed of CNN or HLN TV. And you can even enable closed captioning or pause, rewind and fast forward the broadcast.
To watch live TV, you'll need your username and password from your TV provider. Once you have that, tap on the red CNN logo at the top of the app, then tap "TV" and then "Watch CNN." Follow the prompts to choose your TV service provider and enter your login information.
2. Comment on articles
We want to know what you think about the stories CNN covers. To see comments from other users or to add your own, just tap on the little chat icon with a number in it at the top of the story to bring up the comments pane.
(Note that not all articles in the app have commenting enabled).
3. Save stories to read later or offline
If you see a story you like, but don't have time to read it, just tap on the little star icon at the top of the story page to save it for later. To retrieve it, choose "Saved Stories" from the "More" section of the CNN app navigation. This is a useful feature if you are about to go on a flight and want to read stories offline. You can also read stories offline without saving them. Simply open the app when you do have a cellular or Wi-Fi connection and let the app download the latest stories. You won't be able to watch videos offline, but you will be able to read the stories that were downloaded.
4. Switch to international edition
If you want more news, videos and information from outside of the United States, you can switch to the international version of our app. You'll find international-only sections such as Asia, Middle East, Europe or World Sport. To change editions, go to Settings and then tap on "News Preference" to switch.
5. Share a video while you are watching it
We've made it easy to share a video with your social networks or friends while you're still watching the video. Just tap the video to bring up the video controls and then tap the share icon.
Here's a tip to make you a power-user of the app. If you want to quickly switch between sections, when you are viewing a section like "Home" or "U.S.," swipe your finger to the left or right to move to the next section in the list. If you are viewing a story, you can do the same thing to move to the next story in that section.
